Snickers
Cl Snickers (AKA Snickers)

Cl Snickers (AKA Snickers) is a young 2 1/2 year old arriving on Jan. 7. She is a petite little girl, and is cat safe. She also give kisses. Check back with us later as we get to know more about her personality.

Frannie
Sugarcoat Fran (AKA Frannie)

Sugarcoat Fran (AKA Frannie) is a beautiful and fun fawn girl who turned 4 years old in August. After an impressive racing career at three Florida tracks, she is learning to play and enjoy the retired life. Frannie is being fostered in a home with another greyhound, an active little Jack Russell, and cats. She loves her foster family's granddaughter, and could fit in anywhere.

Segin
Segin

Segin has such a sweet face, but his coat and bald little butt definitely need some work. Good food, a soft bed and some salmon oil will take care of that in no time and he'll be shiny and stunning. Segin had a great racing career at five different Florida tracks, but he's ready for a life of leisure now. He's a bit of an international celebrity with an Irish grandmother and an Australian grandfather. He will be four years old in February and he's cat safe, too.

Freeze
Ucme Freeze It

Ucme Freeze It definitely needs a new name! She is arriving on Jan. 7, and she's such a cute little red and white girl that it will be fun to find a new name that fits her. She was born in June 2009 so she's a young dog. She's a bit on the timid side, so that usually means that we will be looking for a forever home for her with another dog to teach her the ropes and no small children. Freeze is cat safe.

Hank
Hungry Heart (AKA Hank)

Hungry Heart (AKA Hank) is a smallish boy at only 69 pounds. He's also our Yankee Doodle Dandy, starting his racing career in Massachusetts before they outlawed racing and closed all the tracks there. He then moved to the sunny south and raced at two of the Florida tracks. At four years old, Hank has earned his retirement and is ready to find a home of his own.

Laddie
Starz Mi Lad (AKA Laddie)

Starz Mi Lad (AKA Laddie) was adopted several years ago, but his family was unable to keep him, so he has returned to us so we can help him find a new home. Laddie is a young six year old with a sweet temperment and an easy going disposition. He is being fostered by his original foster family who was happy to welcome him back. They have three young sons and another greyhound in the house, and Laddie is also cat safe. Laddie's picture was taken at night after an all day, multi-state drive, so it's not the most flattering. He is actually a beautiful brindle boy who would be a perfect first greyhound. He could also be a contented only dog.

Owen
WTD One You Owe (AKA Owen)

WTD One You Owe (AKA Owen) is a doggy teenager who won't be two years old until February. We placed his mom, Mimsy, as a brood last year, and happily agreed to take Owen when we found out he was available. He has the same sweet personality as his Mom, and he also inherited her very long legs, but not her winning race strategies. Owen is being fostered with another greyhound and a kitty, and is doing great with both. He crates nicely while his foster parents work, and he would probably be happiest with another dog in the house.

Kebo
Kebo Keeneland (AKA Kebo)

Kebo Keeneland (AKA Kebo) is a very small (63 pounds) beautiful red brindle boy. He just turned two in April and he is being fostered with 3 other greyhounds, a terrier and a cat. He completely ignores the cat and loves being part of a pack. Although he is a sweet boy, he just turned two years old in April and he will be happiest in a home with other confident dogs. He will be content to follow the leader and learn all about being a pet and leaving the racing life behind.

Bigshot
Free Bankshot (AKA Bigshot)

Bigshot is a big, handsome boy with the kindest eyes and sweetest facial expressions. He turned three years old in July and once he adds a few pounds to his lean frame, he will probably weigh in at about 76 pounds. Free is being fostered in a home with another greyhound and his foster mom feels that he would do best in a home where his people don't work long hours each day. He loves to play and romp in the yard and play with his stuffy toys. He's probably too curious about the kitties in his foster home to live comfortably with them in his forever home, but he would be a great play companion for a family with older children.

Haley
Bac's Lady Haley (AKA Haley)

Bac's Lady Haley (AKA Haley) is a little bit of a lass with a bright coppery red coat and a sunny, outgoing disposition. Haley has a birthday this month (September) and we're sure she will be thrilled to celebrate her third birthday in a real home rather than in a crate at the track. Haley is fitting right in with the other two greyhounds in her foster home and she was tested as being cat safe at the track, but we still have to check that out with a real cat now that she's in foster care.

Kaebe
Kb's Inflator (AKA Kaebe)

Kb's Inflator (AKA Kaebe) was a track maven at four different Florida tracks before she decided to hang up her cleats and head for the retired life. Looking at that happy face, it seems like she's made a good choice. Kaebe is an elegant dark brindle color with beautiful markings and she is calm and outgoing. No kitties for this girl, though. She gets along fine with the resident dog in the foster home, but chasing kitties would be just too much of a temptation for her.

Rocky
Roc A By Redzone (AKA Rocky)

Roc A By Redzone (AKA Rocky) is a young boy who will be blowing out two candles on his birthday bone later this month (September). He is a happy, playful boy who loves to throw his stuffed animal toys in the air and catch them, and he also likes to chill out by soaking in a child's swimming pool at his foster home. Rocky is just an all around easy dog and is getting along just fine with the cats, Jack Russell and resident greyhound in the foster home. No issues at all for this handsome boy with the dark sable ears.

Kiwi
Kiowa Auto Asiya (AKA Kiwi)

Honestly, where do some of these track names come from? This darling little brindle girl received a nice fluffy dog bed and a much cuter nickname (Kiwi) from her foster family and she is paying them back by being a delightful addition to the foster home. Kiwi turned 3 years old in May, and she is getting along just fine with the two resident greyhounds and the resident cat. She loves to take walkies in her neighborhood she even gives kisses.

Callie
Callherwhatulike (AKA Callie)

Callie has one of the most unusual track names of any of the dogs we've received. Her foster family is calling this darling red brindle girl, Callie. She has four white socks and a white bib on her chest and a beautiful coat. She has already learned to climb the stairs and she is being fostered with two other greyhounds and two children. Callie had quite a nice racing career at two different Alabama tracks but this sweet 4 year old is now ready to race to the nearest couch or dog bed. No kitties for Miss Callie, though. Callie loves people and is very outgoing and friendly, but she does not like being alone.  She will need to find a home with another dog buddy to hang out with or a nice person who is home a lot.

Kelly
Kiowa Kelly Kish (AKA Kelly)

Kelly is the youngest foster dog we have right now. She just turned two in March. She's a pretty girl who is inquisitive and very playful. Entering her foster home for the first time, she decided to pick up each of the resident greyhounds' toys in turn, give each one a little shake to try it out and then move on to the next one. And, as you greyhound savvy people can tell from her name, she's a Kiowa Sweet Trey grand-daughter out of Oswald Cobblepot. A wonderful pedigree for a cute little lady.

Bart
Bartz Man (AKA Bart)

Young Mr. Bart just turned two years old in January and he is a sweet, calm, laid back boy who just seems to take the world in stride. He hopped off the hauler from Florida, took a big stretch, looked around and seemed to say, "So this is Delaware. I think I'll like it here." He's small for a male - only 66 pounds - and he is being fostered with another greyhound and cats. His foster mom says he's a very easy dog.

ashleys
Mh Ashleys (Ashley)

Ashley is a beautiful fawn girl with a dark mask who is 5 1/2 years old. Ashley was adopted three years ago and was just returned because of an emergency family situation in her adoptive family. She is fine with cats and gets along with everyone. Ashley was adopted first and then Jose joined the family several months later and these two dogs are best friends. They are both very settled dogs with perfect house manners. If you have been thinking of adopting a greyhound and want a "brace of hounds" who already know how to be perfect pets, this is the couple for you.

Fuzz Face Dollar
Fuzz Face Dollar (aka Jose)

Jose is a very handsome dark brindle boy who will be 5 years old in July. He was adopted by the same family as Ashley and because of a family emergency they are unable to keep either dog. Jose is also fine with cats and he is a sweet, affectionate, love magnet. He kisses Ashley and sometimes grooms her a little bit. They are both well-mannered dogs who are playful and so cute together. No bickering with this couple! They are fine together all day while the adoptive family worked. They can be crated or not depending on your preference, but they will definitely want to be with you and snuggle when you're home.

Champagne
Champagne Road (AKA Champagne)

Champagne will be four years old in May and according to her foster mom, her name suits her sweet and bubbly personality perfectly. This little 56 pound bundle of fun is currently being fostered with children, little dogs and cats so she will probably fit in anywhere.

Lucy
Stimulus Jan (AKA Lucy)

Lucy is white with very dark brindle patches, so we are calling her a faux cow dog. Her foster family is calling her Lucy the Explorer because this girl has stuck her needlenose into everything she could sniff and explore when she first entered the foster home. At two and a half years old, Lucy is friendly and outgoing and is living with two adults, two children, two greyhounds and two cats. Two must be her lucky number!

Alex
Alex

Alex is a very striking older gentleman. You would never know by looking at him that he is 8 years old. No grey in his muzzle, so we think he's been sneaking into the bathroom and dipping into the Grecian Formula. Alex was adopted several years ago and was living with an older female greyhound who recently passed away. His owner is retiring soon and moving to an area where he is not able to take Alex with him, so we are hoping to rehome Alex into another family hopefully with another greyhound. Alex has always lived with cats and is the perfect gentleman. He's in perfect health, loves his walks, and would make a wonderful addition to a quiet, settled family.

Stosh
Stranger Staff (AKA Stosh)

Stosh is a happy young boy who just turned two in August. He is being fostered in a home with another greyhound, an active Jack Russell and a kitty. Because of his young age and playful personality he might be better in a family with older children or adults.

Nevus
Nevus

Nevus is a handsome red brindle boy who just turned three years old. He was in a home where he was the only dog, but he was not too keen on that idea. He would rather have other doggy friends to live with, so we are looking for a home where he would not be the only dog. Nevus is fine with cats as well - he just doesn't want to be the only doggie at the party.

Grace
RC Saving Grace (AKA Grace)

Grace is a stately brindle girl who was four years old in December. It took her a little while longer to reach our adoption program than some of the other dogs because she was too busy winning races at four different Florida tracks in her early days of racing. But she is totally into retirement now and ready to settle into a life of leisure.

Vodka
HMS Fire Fly (AKA Vodka)

Vodka is quite the beauty, isn't she? This little girl will stand out in a crowd and certainly be easy to keep track of on her nightly walks which she loves. Vodka will be three in July and she is a happy girl who follows her foster mom around the house and is learning steps. No kitties for this girl, though.

Ozzy
Kristian Bush (AKA Ozzy)

Ozzy has a funny track name but a striking look. This handsome boy will be three years old in May and he is being fostered with cats and other greyhounds. His foster family describes him as easy going and affectionate and he seems to enjoy not only the foster family's children but their friends who come over for a visit. And as an extra selling point, his ears stand straight up when something or someone catches his interest.

Penny
Dakota's Hennypin (AKA Penny)

Penny is a very cute, very sprightly little (55 pounds) red girl who dances around especially when she hears the food bowl coming. She just turned 2 in December, so she is very young but she seems to be taking notes from the older greyhounds in the foster home. She is fine with the resident cat, in fact she seems a bit in awe of him and she's very loving and sweet. She has tried to climb into her foster father's lap twice in the first day. Penny would probably do best in a home with other dogs so that they could tutor her on the finer points of retirement.

Finn
Okie Slip (AKA Findlay or Finn)

Finn is a triple B dog - Big, Beautiful and Brindle. This hunka hunka burnin' love is 83 pounds coming off the track where he raced in both West Virginia and Alabama. But this boy is calm and marshmallow-ish on the inside. He is being fostered in a home with another greyhound and a fluffy kitty who he could care less about. Finn will be 4 years old in March and would be a terrific addition to a family as either a first greyhound or as an addition to the pack.

Ace
Ace is the Place (AKA Ace)

Ace is a beautiful mahogany colored brindle boy whose picture doesn't do him justice. Ace just turned 4 years old and he is being fostered in a home with a greyhound, a very small Yorkie, and two teenagers. He is a very nice boy who gets along with everyone. He is a bit reserved when he first meets you, but quickly warms up. He enjoys playing with the other greyhound in the yard, but settles down quickly as well. Ace really enjoys playing with toys and gnawing on nylabones to amuse himself. He's a sweet boy with a wonderful disposition.

Ashley
Jags Ashley (AKA Ashley)

Ashley is one of the most accomplished dogs we've had. After an illustrious racing career in West Virginia where she won lots of AA races, Ashley took on a second career as a brood mom. At a very young five years old, she is now looking for her third career as a retired lady of leisure. Ashley is calm and regal, very elegant, and oh so easy to get along with. She is living in a foster home with 3 other greyhounds, a terrier and a cat and is fitting right in with everyone. She learned steps quickly, she is fine in her crate while the foster parents work, and she is very affectionate and friendly towards everyone who comes to visit including grandbabies and great-grandfathers.

Darla
Darling Dasher (AKA Annie)

Annie is a beautiful brindle girl with very expressive striping on her face. Although Annie was born in the U.S., her daddy was one of the all time champion Irish racers. So, it's very possible that Miss Annie is full of blarney and barks with a brogue. Annie is a wee bit of a lass at only 55 pounds and she just turned 3 years old on New Year's Day. She is being fostered with another greyhound, a pug, and a kitty, so she sure inherited the friendliness of the Irish in terms of getting along with everyone.

Belle
Belle Heart Beat (AKA Belle)

Belle is a pretty little girl who just turned 3 years old in October. She is happy and waggy and is just starting to learn about the good life at her new foster home. She is living with another greyhound and a very fluffy kitty who she is ignoring. Good girl, Belle! We'll know more about Belle once she has been in foster care a bit longer.

Layla
Brian's Madonna (AKA Layla)

Layla is almost still a puppy since she just turned two years old on Jan. 26. Her foster family will have to keep a close eye on her when she goes out to play in their fenced back yard because she is easily camouflaged in all the snow. She is white all over except for the pretty fawn markings around her eyes. Layla is being fostered in an active household with children and two other greyhounds and her foster dad reports that she is very friendly and outgoing towards everyone. No kitties for this young 'un though.

Thorn
Rooftop Howard (AKA Howard)

Howard is a stunningly handsome big boy. He is tall and lean with the most beautiful eyes. Taking this boy for a walk is a long process because everyone wants to stop and meet him. Howard is a very calm boy who is being fostered with two greyhounds and two teenagers. He was tested as being cat safe at the track in Florida, but he hasn't been retested since being in foster care. Howard began his racing career in WV and ended up in sunny Florida. Now he's ready to race right into your heart.
